This Privacy Policy explains how Power Tools for Google Tasks ("we", "our", "the Extension") handles user data, including Google user data accessed via the Google Tasks API. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to describing accurately what the Extension does.
The Extension requests a single OAuth scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/tasks — read and write access to your Google TasksThrough this scope the Extension reads and writes your task titles, notes, due dates, completion status and task list names.
The Extension does not request access to your email address, your Google profile, your calendar events, your contacts, or any other Google service.
Your task content is never sent to us. Requests go directly from your browser to Google's servers using an access token issued by Chrome. We operate no server that receives, processes or stores your tasks.
The Extension uses PostHog (https://posthog.com), hosted in the European Union, to understand which features are used and to detect faults.
We collect:
calendar.google.com and tasks.google.com where the Extension is activeWe do not collect task titles, task notes, task list names, due dates, your email address, your name, or your Google account identifiers. No task content of any kind is sent to PostHog.
Session recording is disabled. Automatic click and form capture is disabled.
You can turn analytics off at any time from the extension popup — the control sits in the footer, beside Feedback and Version History. Switching it off stops all analytics collection, including feedback surveys, and clears the random installation identifier, so switching it back on starts a fresh identity that cannot be linked to the previous one. Pages you already have open keep the setting they loaded with, so reload any open Google Calendar or Google Tasks tab for the change to take full effect. You can still email support@xanderj.nl if you would rather we handled it.
The Extension may occasionally show an optional feedback survey, delivered through PostHog. Answering is voluntary, and anything you type in a survey response is sent to us along with the installation identifier described above. Please do not include personal information in your answers. Surveys are delivered through the same PostHog instance as analytics, so turning analytics off in the extension popup stops them as well.
Payments and subscription status are handled by ExtensionPay (https://extensionpay.com), which uses Stripe as its payment processor. Card details are entered on their systems and are never seen by, or transmitted through, the Extension. We receive only whether an installation is paid, on a trial, or free. Please refer to their privacy policies for their data practices.
The following is kept in your browser's extension storage and stays on your device, except where stated above:
Your Google access token is held by Chrome's own identity system, not by the Extension, and is not written to extension storage.
We do not sell, rent or trade your data.
Data leaves your browser in exactly three directions:
Earlier versions of the Extension (before 1.5.6) routed Google Tasks requests through an intermediate Google Cloud Function operated by us. That layer was removed in version 1.5.6, and requests now go directly from your browser to Google.
The Extension is not directed to persons under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. Contact support@xanderj.nl to exercise any of these rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above and mentioning it in the release notes.
